Counseling Services offers academic, career, and personal counseling services to Union County College students. Our services strive to increase student success by providing educational resources to a diverse student body.

Academic Advising

Learning Community Counselors are available to assist with comprehensive planning and decision making tools essential to academic success. As a Learning Community student, you will complete an academic plan with a counselor to help you set individual academic and career goals.

Career Services

Whether choosing a major or planning your career, a Learning Community Counselor can help in a variety of ways.
  • Meet with a counselor - A counselor can help you identify the skills and interests that match a career and provide you with career resources.
  • Take an assessment - Assessments such as the MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) and Discover can be a good starting point to learn more about your personality style and interests as they relate to career choices.
  • Start the career planning process - complete an academic plan with a counselor and begin to map out your career path.
  • Attend career workshops - Career workshops are held during the academic year on various topics of interest.

Personal Counseling

A Learning Community Counselor can refer you to a Student Assistance Counselor. A Student Assistance Counselor offers information, assessment, short-term counseling, and referral regarding substance abuse issues and other personal concerns.

The Coordinator of Services for Students with Disabilities is available to assist students who have documented physical and learning disabilities. These services need to be arranged before the beginning of each semester. For more information please contact Heather Keith at 908-709-7164.
