Peer Mentoring is an intricate component of the UCC 101: College Success Course at Union County College. Peer Mentors are available to assist students with their transition into UCC. Each UCC 101 course in the Learning Community has a designated Peer Mentor who guides and encourages the students to not only utilize the available campus resources (such as the Librarians , ALC Tutors, and Counselors), but to also participate in the variety of student organizations and extra-curricular activities.

The Peer Mentors serve as a role model for students enrolled in the UCC 101 Course. Each Learning Community has a Peer Mentor assigned to the paired courses to assist in providing the following support:
  • Assist students in getting acclimated to the Union County College campus
  • Encourage students to utilize campus resources available to them
  • Promote participation in student organizations and extra-curricular activities
  • Serve as a liaison between the faculty and the students
  • Provide support to students both in and out of the classroom
