Workshop: Programs of Study

CTEP is hosting a professional development event on Programs of Study on Tuesday, July 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Robeson Center in the Library at Raritan Valley Community College. The event is open to CTEP advisory committee members.

Erika Volker, Director for the Partnerships for Innovation, will lead the training. Partnerships for Innovation is a statewide Carl D. Perkin's consortium for the state of Nebraska. A former Tech Prep Coordinator, Volker has extensive knowledge regarding secondary-postsecondary transitions and the need for relevant, contextual learning for students. She worked at the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce as the Education and Workforce Manager; strengthening the partnerships between education and business throughout the Omaha community.

Reflect, Transform, Lead: Partnerships to Enhance Career and Technical Education

CTEP and the New Jersey Department of Education are pleased to announce Reflect, Transform, Lead: Partnerships to Enhance Career and Technical Education, a statewide leadership conference on June 4 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Raritan Valley Community College. The honored guest and keynote speaker will be Dr. Frank Chong, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Community Colleges, U.S. Department of Education. This event will provide an opportunity for the state's community college leaders, superintendents of county vocational-technical schools, CTE program administrators and others to engage in a high-level discussion about policies and procedures that lead to student success. Topics will include New Jersey's participation in a federal program to develop a "green" program of study; the impact of Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) on persistence; and strategies for effective secondary/post-secondary partnerships.

SkillsUSA Tech Prep Showcase/CTEP Committee Meeting

Raritan Valley Community College Conference Center

The New Jersey chapter of SkillsUSA will hold its 2010 ech Prep Competition at Raritan Valley Community College on Friday, March 19. The annual event brings together students from across the state to present a project in their chosen "career cluster." CTEP Advisory Committee members are invited to attend a SkillsUSA orientation session and CTEP workshop on the same day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., also in the conference center.
